France's Top 10 Scholarships for International Students

International students increasingly choose France as their preferred study abroad location. It is not always affordable to study and live in France, though. But being modest at between €200 and €600 per year for public universities, private universities may charge up to €10,000 per year in tuition. Around €10,000 is spent on living expenses annually. For overseas students, there are fortunately a number of French scholarships available. The Eiffel Excellence Scholarships
Ministry of Foreign Affairs created the Eiffel Scholarship Program as a mechanism to help French higher education institutions draw in the top international students for master’s and Doctorate degree programs.

For Master’s courses, Eiffel scholarship recipients receive a stipend of €1,181, while for PhD courses, they receive a stipend of €1,400. The program also pays for a variety of expenses, such as a return travel, health insurance, and cultural activities. A supplement to the housing allowance may be available to scholarship holders. No tuition is paid by the program.

France’s Top 10 Scholarships for International Students

École Normale Supérieure International Selection
Each year, the ENS organizes an international selection allowing about thirty of the most promising international students, either in Science or in Humanities, to follow a two or three-year course at the ENS. During two to three years, they are given a stipend of roughly 1,000 euros each month. Each year, about 30 international students receive awards.

Ampere Scholarships of Excellence at ENS de Lyon
The ENS de Lyon and its partners offer scholarships for excellent international students to enroll in its Masters programs in the Exact Sciences, the Arts, and Human and Social Sciences (excluding Professional Masters in teaching) through the Ampere Scholarships of Excellence. During a period of 12 months, the scholarships are worth €1000 per month and are renewed under certain restrictions.

The Emile Boutmy Scholarships at Sciences Po University
In order to draw the top foreign students from outside the European Union who are applying and have already been admitted to Sciences Po University, Sciences Po established the Emile Boutmy Scholarships in honor of the university’s founder. The awards can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from €5,000 to €10,000 for two years of postgraduate study or from €3,000 to €12,300 for three years of undergraduate study.

Université Paris-Saclay International Master’s Scholarships
The Université Paris-Saclay would like to promote access to its master’s (nationally-certified degree) programs to international students, taught in its member establishments. And the scholarship is €10,000 per year  and a maximum of €1,000 for travel and visa expenses is also awarded.

The Grenoble Institute of Technology Foundation Scholarships
An international master’s degree program at Grenoble INP is supported by a scholarship program funded by the Grenoble Institute of Technology Foundation. And the grant amounts to 5,000 euros per semester.

Another One Is: INSEAD MBA Scholarships
There is fierce competition for each INSEAD Scholarship because there are only a certain number available. These scholarships fall into two broad categories: need-based and non-need-based. They are given depending on a number of different criteria (based on either merit, nationality, gender, professional background, leadership abilities, field of previous studies etc.). The scholarships range in value from $5,000 to $25,000.
